I finally became a new homeowner for the first time ever recently.
I had been renting apartments for the last several years after getting out of college.
I was ready to give up being a renter and watching all of that money go down the drain. Instead, now that money goes towards a mortgage payment and I’m already building equity on the house. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been the easiest process transitioning into being a homeowner. There’s something great about having a rental agreement with a landlord that stipulates all problems have to be taken care of whenever I make a call. So if there’s a backed up toilet or sink train, the landlord has to take care of it. If I run into one of these problems myself, I have to call the appropriate people to get the work done. It’s all on my shoulders to take care of these issues from the start. I had to find a good heating and cooling company to get a service and maintenance contract for my air conditioner and furnace. I don’t want my air conditioner furnace to break down after normal use because I haven’t been taking care of the service and maintenance. Luckily for me, the company that handles my HVAC care also does plumbing equipment repairs and installations. After having them do my heating and cooling service visits, I usually call the schedule my plumbing service visits as well. I usually don’t need as much plumbing work so typically that this particular company only handles my heating and cooling work. They installed a smart thermostat for me last week.
