So the last couple of years have not exactly been super comfortable inside my home, and but, that was really preferable to residing in an apartment… When my home became available, it was a now or never moment and I went all in, however for what seems like forever, I’ve been saving so I could have a mortgage instead of paying rent, but along with the usually overwhelmed and outdated Heating and A/C equipment, I hated not building any equity while renting; This was so crucial to me.
But I also was just ready to not have to share walls with anyone that wasn’t inside my home.
The home I was able to buy is perfect space-wise and location. I have a yard and live in a nice city. But the home was absolutely worn out even though it’s structurally in wonderful shape… Yet, it was an as is situation and if I bought it, all the renovations would be up to me. There was no way I was going to beat that price so I took the leap. And with that leap has come with it a new level of patience. When it comes to working on this house, I could only do what I could afford. I wasn’t into borrowing a bunch of money just so I could get it all done more quickly. That said, I also saved a bunch of money by doing a bunch of the work myself. The basic renovations were finally capped off this Springtime when the Heating and A/C component was upgraded. It was a absolutely outdated central a/c situation and I had to entire thing upgraded… New ductwork went with the new heat pump. At least this Summer, I’m going to be the most comfortable I’ve ever been in my adult life.
