Covid hit hard and some of the people in my industry were affected.
Working in the service industry,especially the hospitality industry has never been the same ever since the days of Covid pandemic, for instance, my friend and I lost a huge percentage of our income because of losing hours during lockdowns.
In an economy that is already hard, life hasn’t been easy to cope up with, then currently, my friend and I are only earning 69 percent of what my friend and I earned pre-covid season. Things became too slender for me and my family that I was struggling to pay rent. After discussing it with my husband, my friend and I agreed that it would be easier on us if my friend and I moved into the lakehouse he had inherited from his unbelievable aunt; Before his passing, my husband’s aunt willed his old lakehouse to his number one niece who happens to be my husband! She wanted to leave his most prized possession to someone he knew would take proper care of it. My husband loved spending his younger days with his aunt in the lake house so it was an easy decision to see why he would will it to her. Before my friend and I went live there, he had been renting the house for a year since his aunt’s passing. With things becoming tighter each passing afternoon, my friend and I provided the occupants notice and planned to transport in. Before then, though, my friend and I needed to work on improving the Heating as well as Air Conditioning system. The house needed a new furnace to help us through winter. I called the Heating as well as Air Conditioning company in neighborhood to help with the new furnace installation. My buddy and I also got a few portable space heaters to supplement the wood stove and new furnace. The idea was to work on replacing both the heating and cooling system gradually until the house can run on proper air conditioning. For now my friend and I are happy to have anywhere to put our head.
