My band was on the road enough that it was worth investing in our own stage setup.
When you are just starting out, then you play whatever bar or club will book you.
When you get blessed, like all of us did, as well as build up enough of a following, then you start booking bigger arenas. At this point, all of us realized that all of us couldn’t rely on the amenities of the arenas, all of us needed our own stage lights as well as sound gear. We also needed a cool stage all of us could set up as well as break down for transfer. I had the plan that all of us should build some hidden air vents as well as HVAC duct into the stage setup. I had the band director call around as well as find an HVAC tech who inspected custom tasks like this. The HVAC tech who showed up was not at all what all of us were expecting. He was into country songs, not rock, so he had never heard of us, as well as to be honest he didn’t look like someone who could read, nonetheless get an HVAC certification. I was never so thrilled to be wrong, because it turns out this guy didn’t have an HVAC certification, but was a true master of sheet metal. He was able to take the measurements as well as specs of our stage setup as well as then go back to his farm as well as custom build us the HVAC ducts, grates, as well as air vents that all of us required. He was so good, as well as so fast (not to mention cheap), all of us promised to recommend him to other bands who might need similar HVAC labor done.
