How to use a thermostat to combat indoor air pollution

Poor air quality affects the health of your family or even yourself if you live alone.

When I noticed that the respiratory health of my family was deteriorating, I spoke to a doctor and HVAC professional from the local business who gave me sound advice on how to achieve proper indoor air quality.

I had a heat pump that provided adequate temperatures during the cold and winter seasons. A few years earlier I had taken the advice of a doctor and technician and purchased an air purification system complete with a digital regulator. With proper maintenance such as regular cleaning of the washable filters and scheduling duct cleaning after every 3 to 4 years, I am hoping my heat and AC products will last for a very long time. When I was having issues with the air purifier and regulator, one of the technicians who did the installation did a quick repair and cleaning of the air filters. To further effectively maintain my family’s health, the technician advised that I upgrade the thermostat to a smart one that can monitor for conditions like air purity and humidity, and can be integrated with air quality systems and the HVAC system. The technician then advised on the things that keep moisture or air from escaping the home such as redoing the duct sealing on the ductwork. He explained that clean air ducts promote a high quality of air which ensures my family’s health. The next day, I ordered the new regulator and had the technician integrate it with my other systems. Though it is costly, it is worth it. Now we do not need to keep adjusting the air sanitizer system, everything is automatic.
