I love my job as an HVAC technician because no two days are similar.
Every day there are new problems to solve, I meet different people each day, some good, some irate, and some very hospitable and understanding. I love them all because with every different personality is an opportunity to learn something new. We received a call at the local business, it was a customer requesting the installation of an air purification system. The customer’s residence was my neighbor’s barn. I later found out that my neighbor had rented the place to a new tenant that had come from the city. The customer had requested a vented air purifier as well as a ductless heat pump. This meant that we needed to go through the ductwork installation and intricate duct sealing process. I then came down to install the filters and that is when I saw her. Her skin was stunning against the summer sun. Beads of sweat had formed on her forehead as she was from a run. I was taken aback by her beauty but I had to finish the job before anything. Mounting the thermostat marked end of the installation of the heat and AC products at the barn. We would usually wrap up installation, by advising the customer on the steps to take to maintain the function of the air quality system. Duct cleaning after every 3 to 4 years would ensure no dust in the air ducts. I also illustrated how to remove the washable filters clean and reinstall them. Clean air filters promote indoor air quality which I understood helped with the customer’s respiratory systems. After work, we met up for dinner and I got to know her better. After a few months, we officially started dating.
