When I say that I needed to hide out from the law, that doesn’t mean I committed a crime.
There was some legal trouble my family was in, in addition to the last thing I wanted to do was to testify against my own mother.
I decided to go “on the lam” as they say, in addition to hide out for a few weeks until her trial was over. A trusted family neighbor managed to find myself and others a remote chalet in the foothills where I could stay for a few weeks, or even a few weeks. It was easy, in addition to small, but there was electricity in addition to a water heater, in addition to an old rabbit-ear television! A few days later I got up into the attic in addition to found some other goodies, including a small portable a/c unit, in addition to a VCR with a box full of videotapes. I can’t say which one made myself and others happier, because the little a/c was such a breath of fresh, cold air in the musty old chalet. Located in a narrow valley in the foothills, this chalet got undoubtedly little direct wind, which means the chalet got little ventilation or air circulation. The a/c unit was barely strong enough to cool myself and others down even when I stand right on top of it, but still it was a nice change! Even better than the a/c was the VCR in addition to the old videotapes, most of which were sitcoms in addition to cartoons from the 70s. Turning on the a/c, in addition to then enjoying the old tapes all night long was the most fun I had living in that chalet.
