Aunt May told me her Grandfather made the wooden rocker, and she had it in her beach house for decades.
When I was told my aunt had passed away, I was sad, but i didn’t assume my aunt well, but what I knew of her was that she was easily nice and was constantly smiling, but although I was younger when I last saw her, I remembered how she laughed with me, and taught me how to do somersaults. I was shocked when mom told me she had left something to me in her will. I couldn’t understand why she would leave me something, when I got to her beach house several days later, I saw the rocking chair. I remembered resting in that rocker and singing with Aunt May, she would tell me appealing stories, and I would rock until I fell asleep. I wondered what they were going to do with the rocker, and I soon found out… The wooden rocker was appealing, and all I could do was look at it, memories flooded back and I not only remembered rocking for hours, but running my fingers over the flowers that were engraved in the wood. Aunt May told me her Grandfather made the wooden rocker, and she had it in her beach house for decades. I told her that someday I would prefer to have a rocker so I could share her stories with my children and grandchildren. She must have remembered me saying that, because I was now the proud owner of the wooden rocking chair, but every time I looked at the wooden rocking chair, I had to smile. There was a lot of prefer in the outdated wooden rocker, and it was appealing to look at. I sent a prayer of thanks to the universe, hoping Aunt May would hear me.
