So this is my second stab and dealing with a really tough winter.
And my first attempt was both full of suffering and rookie mistakes.
But that’s to be expected I guess given the change I’m experiencing. I grew up in a region where the heat pump was pretty much silent all winter. There was hardly any need for heating in our home. And winter was actually the part of the year that we all looked forward to the most. That was because we finally didn’t need air conditioning. But now that I’ve lived through the worst of a northern winter, I’ll never complain about air conditioning again. Like I said, this is my second winter and I still have three more to go. I signed on for 5 years in this office when I took this job promotion. I’m glad I hadn’t visited the area during the winter or I wouldn’t have taken the job. But we all have to do things in order to get where we want to with our careers. The fact that I have a space heater under my desk at work should say something about my situation. My first winter up here I spent in an apartment that was not at all prepared for the cold of winter. This place didn’t even have a gas furnace but rather a boiler in the basement. I got so little heating from that thing that I was constantly freezing. I didn’t even want to leave the office to go home. But now, I’m in my first home and I made sure that it came with a new and very reliable gas furnace.
