I knew Max was the Heating, Ventilation, & A/C professional, & I knew he was the part owner of the local Heating, Ventilation, & A/C company. My father had worked for Max for several years. It isn’t like anyone had forced me to be a Heating, Ventilation, & A/C pro, however I wanted to be one. Once I graduated from high school, I signed up for a series of Heating, Ventilation, & A/C repair classes at the local community school. I was excited to start the classes, however I wasn’t sure what to expect. I knew dad periodically worked there as an instructor, although he hadn’t been saying anything to mom about it. I had previously spoken with dad about being a Heating, Ventilation, & A/C pro, & he told me it was my decision. It was my life, & if I wanted to be an Heating, Ventilation, & A/C pro, doctor, or burger flipper; it was my choice & not his. I appreciated my dad wanting me to follow my own road in life, however I wanted a little bit of guidance, & I was trying to find out if he knew who the AC instructor was. Dad was saying nothing. I guessed I had to wait until the class began. Two weeks later, I walked into class. I almost laughed out loud when Max walked into class & sat down on the desk. Max introduced himself as this year’s guest instructor, & he was going to be doing all the classroom instruction. My father was going to be handling the hands-on instruction. I started to wonder how I was going to get through the introductions separate from anyone knowing I was related to these two AC pros. I also wondered how many of my classmates would think I would get preferred treatment.
