Things were so bad that it risked his relationship.
The fact that he wasn’t mechanically inclined made it worse. He could do the basic stuff like keep the space tidy but heating and cooling projects were a different ball game. Usually, this is when he called the HVAC contractor to sort out the HVAC unit issue since they were professionals. The only thing he knew about the A/C system was to change the air filter every month, something he religiously kept up with. However, that was as far as his efforts could go since the HVAC unit was a bit more complex but he needed clean air that was well conditioned. That’s why he was changing the dirty air filters every month. Turns out that the cheap air filters he was using weren’t designed to help the HVAC system work better and neither were they instrumental in cleaning the air. In fact, the filters were simply protecting the health of the Heating, and cooling component but not the resident’s health. So when he finally got the correct information, he made a few changes with immediate effect. First, he installed a HEPA filter which removes close to 100 percent of the airborne contaminants from the air. But he also went one step further and had a whole home air cleaner installed. And the fluctuations in the indoor air quality were staggering. The changes transformed the house that he felt as though he had moved house yet he was still in the same old apartment.
