In order to be certain that your A/C equipment is ready for the summer time and the Heat and humidity, a full system service tune up is commanded, and regular system service includes all of the heating and cooling system components plus the air duct. I prefer to have a service appointment stressed for the A/C in the middle of April. Around here the temperatures tend to get hot and humid during that time of the year; Waiting longer than that is risky in my opinion. This year, I stressed the service appointment in the first week of May and temperatures were already 90° outside. I wanted to schedule the system service earlier than that, but I was busy and completely forgot. Thankfully there were no problems with the A/C unit. In fact, the service business told me that the evaporator foil still looked brand new. The A/C system is 3 years old! Hearing that parts of the system still look modern made me feel fantastic about the service that I do on my own. I change the air filter bi-weekly and I make sure to keep the air duct clean and free of debris. I also clean the condenser line and the drain. It only takes me about thirty minutes each month to handle the repair and it helps the indoor air quality and the bi-weekly energy bills. There’s no negative to taking care of your heating and A/C components.
