HVAC Repair Tips for Homeowners

The day my wife came to me and said that she was so done with working inside the commercial HVAC of the office, I so understood.

I’m fortunate to have a great job that pays well.

But I too get tired of going to work inside commercial HVAC day in and day out. It’s a routine that I’ve been doing for more than 30 years now. With the kids no longer occupying the central air conditioning of our home, my wife really wanted to leave her job inside that commercial HVAC. The way she spoke only solidified my total support for her idea. She’s not one to go out and do something without really understanding all of the consequences, rewards and the details of an endeavor. Still, I was stunned by the fact that she wanted to breed dogs for a living. And she wanted to do it from here. We certainly have the property to do it and my wife has a true affinity for animals and especially dogs. The only thing we needed was more space. As my wife was rounding out her stay inside the commercial HVAC of her work, we began preparations. The new space needn’t be particularly elaborate, it just needed to be space with a sink and a bathroom. That was easily done by a builder friend we know. Then, we called the HVAC company and they came out to add some heating and cooling to the new space. I have to say, I was so surprised by the levels of quality heating and air that the ductless heat pump was able to produce. My wife is happy and building her business. And that makes me happy.

From the time I was a little kid, I never really felt like I fit in anywhere.

While I was popular enough at school because I was raised to be a kind, nice person, I never felt like I was in a groove.

I figured that spending four years inside the radiant heating of my college dorm room would lead to me finding my bliss. But again, I was surprised and disappointed that I was still feeling so unconnected. That only got worse once I started my career. While I’m lucky to have found an interest that I could build a career on, I hated the environment of work. So I tried another company. The only good thing about that place was the zone controlled HVAC. It was still an environment that made no sense to me. I couldn’t understand just why we couldn’t pull together as a unit and work together. All the office politics and drama added to the stress of my job. After 15 years of forcing myself into the daily grind of going into commercial HVAC for 10 or 12 hours was killing me. So I pulled the plug. Seriously, I sold everything and put an ultimatum to my bosses. Either I work remotely or I walk away. Apparently, I have some value because they were happy for me to work remotely with only coming to the office a few times a year. Even though I live way, way out in the woods where I have to rely on a solar array for electricity, I still have residential HVAC. That’s thanks to the pair of ductless heat pumps that provide quality heating and air to by life in the wood. And finally, I feel like I fit in.

One of my most favorite aspects is the zone controlled HVAC office.

I never thought I would want to work an office job. I saw the way they were portrayed on TV, and it looked like the most boring existence possible. I used to wonder who in the world would commit themselves to such a life? Well, nowadays I actually have an office job, and it’s actually pretty nice. Before this, I would do yard work such as mowing, trimming and planting. While I enjoyed my work overall, the worst part was dealing with the extreme temperatures. The temperatures were just crazy. This might be because I live in the south, and the south is known for the intense heat. Anyways, after an injury, yard work became almost impossible without constant pain. So that is when I switched to office work. To my surprise, I really enjoyed it. Yeah, there are a few annoying things, but I want to focus on the positives. One of my most favorite aspects is the zone controlled HVAC office. This is so different to how I do things, enjoying the nice A/C, when I would usually be outside doing yard work. I have come to appreciate my new job, and while I miss some aspects of manual work, I really enjoy my new air conditioner, and the simplicity of this job. I can’t see myself working here forever though, I plan on eventually starting my own business. I’m not sure what kind of business, but it would be kind of funny to have a HVAC company, since I was just talking about how much I enjoy the air conditioning.

I have almost zero complaints about the new place I am living in.

• The new place I am living in is a rental home, and honestly it is so beautiful.

The house looks like it could be a vacation home, it is so pretty. I still can’t believe I am lucky enough to live here, even if it is only a rental. The place has a pool, a screened in porch, a sun room as well as a large shed that makes a great storage space. It has everything I need and more. There is only one thing that bothers me slightly about the place, and that is the air conditioning situation. So I guess the owners don’t take too good care of their heating and A/C equipment, because despite the place being beautiful inside and out, it doesn’t feel super comfortable. I find myself constantly getting up to mess with the thermostat to see if I can get it any cooler or warmer in my home. It always seems to be uncomfortable, never warm, but always too cold or too hot. With the owner’s permission, I asked to come and have a heating and air conditioning worker come out and look at the heating and A/C device. I am thinking about making some HVAC changes to the place, because this place is perfect all except for that one tiny flaw. They gave me their blessing, and so I am going to schedule an appointment with the cooling worker and see what I can do.
