HVAC Repair Tips for Homeowners

I had known our local HVAC serviceman since we were in college. My friend and I never ran in the same circles, but he was always friendly with me. I was the farm girl who had to milk the cows, and he was the BMOC. It didn’t matter what activities he participated in; he excelled. Everyone thought he was going to end up in a major baseball league, or the NFL, but they were all wrong. He didn’t even accept a scholarship. He told his parents he wanted to be an HVAC serviceman and work for his father’s HVAC corporation. I still saw him around town and he always stopped to say hello, but I was tied up getting my doctorate and working with the local veterinary clinic. It took ten years before I had my own clinic, and I worked mostly with dogs, but I had an office in town, which I used as a hospital. I was in the office one afternoon, when the cooling system broke. I called the local HVAC corporation, and I was surprised when Andy showed up. He repaired the cooling system quickly and then came in to talk to me. The first thing he said was that being a veterinarian suited me, and I glowed with excitement. When he asked me to marry him, I stopped working. He said he’s had his eye on me for years, and that he’s been wanting to go out with me for a long time. I laughed so hard I cried, but I agreed to go out with him.

He stopped for a drink, and I told him if he said one more word about Heating, Ventilation and A/C, I was going to beat him. I had something to say. He told me all I had to do was say something. I shouted I was pregnant, which got me a kiss, but he went into a story about a pregnant girl who was having heat flashes.

He worked the night shift, and that was when things started to go wrong.

The lights would flash on and off every time the cooling system machine came on, and you didn’t notice it in the daytime, because we didn’t have the lights on, but at night, it was noticeable. I knew it had to be an electrical issue, and it scared me that we could have a house fire while he was at work. I called the Heating, Ventilation and A/C dealer hoping my hubby would notice the flashing lights before they arrived. My hubby called off work one evening, because he wanted to use up some of his free time. He was in the basement when the cooling system turned on. He asked if I noticed the lights flashing and I told him the cooling system machine was turned on. I also told him I had called the Heating, Ventilation and A/C corporation. He told me to call an electrician and have them look at the electrical system. Finally, he had seen what I had been talking about for the last couple of weeks. He would not be making a fuss when he saw the bill from the Heating, Ventilation and A/C dealer or the electrician. When I made the phone calls the next day, he told me to try to make the appointments with the Heating, Ventilation and A/C dealer and the electrician when he was home. He provided me with a list of the days he planned to take off from work, and said any of them would do. The rest of the days were for us to go on vacation.

Six months ago, my brother and I got into a horrible argument that almost ended in violence.

I was shocked when I saw my brother in the basement. Within five minutes my brother and I were talking and laughing like nothing had happened. I took a deep breath, and apologized for everything I had said, and he also apologized. He looked at me and said all I had to do was call and make up that something was wrong with the furnace. I smiled, knowing my wife brought us back together. I had to make sure to take her out to dinner, or maybe my brother and I could all go out for dinner as a foursome.
