When I sold my corporation for all that money, I knew things would change, however I also knew that I’d consistently be me no matter where I lived or the amount of money in the bank.

However, I would have been just nice simply upgrading the Heating and A/C unit and staying in our seasoned house, and yet part of me selling the corporation was to give back to my partner for all she has sacrificed to support me in my passion. So indeed, my buddy and I updated the heating and cooling unit, but that was only to sell the seasoned house! Now, my buddy and I live in a home inside one of the oldest and wealthiest parts of town. It’s nice, but it all feels a bit over the top to me, and there were so many renovations that had to be done to the home when my buddy and I first got it. From the residential Heating and A/C to flooring to the home office, it was all replaced. So much went on that my partner sort of lost sight of the small guest cottage on the back of the property. So this space became my area to do my thing when I wanted to get out of the central air conditioning of the main house. The guest cottage is nothing lavish but it’s easy and comfortable, which is all I need. However, I will say that the modern ductless heat pump genuinely does make a crucial difference. I just enjoy having such high quality heating and air in my little private spot. My partner wanted to aim her decorating and renovations at the guest cottage not too long ago, but I deflected that intent, as I just want to feel normal inside a normal little cottage with wonderful heating and cooling.

I got stuck buying two roofs when I sold my house.

• I sold my house in the city and the couple buying wanted a whole bunch of things replaced.

I put my foot down on brand new piping and wiring. I did give them a new roof though. They pushed and pushed for me to do it. I wanted the sale to go through and I knew a roofing business that would cut me a deal. The buyers should have thought about it hard. If they would have bought the roof, they could have picked out the colors, materials and made sure it was high quality. Instead, I did everything barebones. I chose a discounted color, cheap material and told the roofers to quickly slap it on. I wanted the lowest priced job ever. That is what you get for making me buy you a roof. The house I was moving inot needed a new roof as well. I hired the same roofing business. This time instead of doing the work fast and cheap, I wanted it high end. I picked the best of the best for everything. My roof has multiple pitches and arches. I knew it would require more time and work. I was willing to spend the money to get it the best possible. They even matched the shingles perfectly to my backyard patio. I just love the end result. I am a bit salty that I got stuck with two roofing bills though. Roofs are not cheap. I really hated buying a roof for a place that I was vacating too.

I always wanted to have a house with a pool.

It has been my dream since I was a little kid.

A lot of my friends grew up in houses with pools and I was jealous that I didn’t have a pool when I was a kid. When it was summer time, it was hot outside and the only way I could cool off was to go swimming in the creek. I could hear my friends playing in their pools and I had to sit in the river in muddy water to cool off. When I met my current husband, the first thing I told him was that my dream house had to have an in-ground pool. When we looked for a house, we only searched for houses that actually had a pool. We found a house that was in serious disrepair. It was $50,000 less than other houses in the neighborhood. I was certain that we could make all of the repairs for much less than that. The place had an inground pool, but all of the plumbing had to be redone. I had no idea how much that was going to cost. I contacted a specialty plumbing contractor that takes care of pools. The contractor came out to give me an estimate and it cost a lot more money to replace all of the plumbing then I expected. They basically had to tear the pool apart in order to redo the plumbing and that was going to cost a fortune. We should have just bought a brand new construction house instead.

I finally became a new homeowner for the first time ever recently.

I had been renting apartments for the last several years after getting out of college.

I was ready to give up being a renter and watching all of that money go down the drain. Instead, now that money goes towards a mortgage payment and I’m already building equity on the house. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been the easiest process transitioning into being a homeowner. There’s something great about having a rental agreement with a landlord that stipulates all problems have to be taken care of whenever I make a call. So if there’s a backed up toilet or sink train, the landlord has to take care of it. If I run into one of these problems myself, I have to call the appropriate people to get the work done. It’s all on my shoulders to take care of these issues from the start. I had to find a good heating and cooling company to get a service and maintenance contract for my air conditioner and furnace. I don’t want my air conditioner furnace to break down after normal use because I haven’t been taking care of the service and maintenance. Luckily for me, the company that handles my HVAC care also does plumbing equipment repairs and installations. After having them do my heating and cooling service visits, I usually call the schedule my plumbing service visits as well. I usually don’t need as much plumbing work so typically that this particular company only handles my heating and cooling work. They installed a smart thermostat for me last week.
