HVAC Repair Tips for Homeowners

Our hotel last weekend had a ductless mini split HVAC system instead of a regular type of heating and cooling system.

When I walked in the hotel room and I did not see a regular HVAC system situated underneath a window like normal hotel rooms have, I did not really know what to think. I looked around the room and I did not see a thermostat unit on the wall either. The whole thing was really weird to me at first. At first I thought that maybe the front desk decided the temperature of every single room and that I would be left to their own idea of what a comfortable temperature should be. I knew that that was not going to work for me because I am very hot natured. I always want to keep the thermostat in my hotel rooms turned way down low so that I can snuggle in under the covers and get a good night’s sleep. Anyway, at first I could not figure out what the deal was, and I ended up calling the front desk to see what they said. The hotel manager told me that they had recently installed something called ductless mini split heating and air conditioning units in every single room. When I looked around some more, I noticed a small little HVAC unit tucked away in the corner of the room. I used a remote control on the desk to turn it on and it ended up working great!

Our HVAC technician, John, has been working in the HVAC business for years now. He works at a family owned heating and cooling company and they are currently offering a heating system tune up. The cost for the heating system tune up is only $69, which I think is a steal. I have never heard about a heating system tune up being this inexpensive before, honestly. At least I haven’t heard about a price like this in the last twenty years or so! Honestly, HVAC service has gotten to be more and more expensive lately, just like everything else. The way everything seems to be getting more and more expensive lately is really driving me crazy. I get really stressed out about it sometimes because I am always afraid that we aren’t going to have enough money to take care of our house or our family. I know that I probably should not worry about all of these things so much, but that is just the kind of person that I am. I am really thankful for our HVAC technician John. He has always been really good at helping us keep our costs down when it comes to maintaining our heating and cooling system. I especially appreciate the way that he tells us about all of the upcoming deals and specials that the HVAC company is going to have. It really helps us to save a lot of money. I am really glad that we ended up with John as our HVAC technician. Without him, our heating and cooling bills would be much higher!

Maybe I should have been an HVAC technician for a living instead of going to a university.

I definitely thought about it enough, that’s for sure.

As a matter of fact, I almost enrolled at our local technical school before I even graduated from high school. I was pretty interested in the little booth that they had set up at the career day fair that we had at school for Senior Career Day. I went over and talked to all of the people that were sitting at the booth there for the technical school. They were offering all kinds of classes at the technical school that session. They had flyers all about plumbing, electrician classes, and heating and cooling classes. I remember thinking that the one that I was most interested in was the heating and cooling courses. They looked really interesting to me, and I thought that I would really like to become an HVAC technician. However, there was a lot of pressure to go to college at that point, and I ended up enrolling at a four year university instead. These days, I have a whole lot of debt and I wish that I had not ever gone to college at all. I’m not even working at a job that involves my major. it seems like it was all sort of pointless at this point. These days, I really wish that I had become an HVAC technician instead. I think that I would have been a whole lot happier and I would have a lot more money, too!

I noticed that one of the heating vents was sticking up out of the floor

I just could not believe how much cat fur was stuck down in the heating vent when I went over to my friend Adrian’s house the other day. I told Adrian that I would come over to let her dog out for her, but when I got there, I started to think that I had made a terrible mistake. I don’t do very well in places that have terrible indoor air quality, and the minute I stepped into Adrian’s kitchen, I knew that was exactly what I was walking into! Adrian had to work late on that particular day, and since I was off early, I told her that I would go over there to let the dog out. Usually she does all of that herself, but she just couldn’t get away from the office that day. I felt sorry for her, or at least I found myself feeling sorry for the dog. So I went over to the house and I went inside through the garage. I was not under the impression that Adrian was a terrible housekeeper because her desk at work is always nice and clean. I have ridden in her car before and it’s always nice and clean too. However, that must be where all of her cleaning ends because her house was an absolute disaster. I noticed that one of the heating vents was sticking up out of the floor. When I went to dry and push it back down into the floor so it would be level, it would not close. At first I thought that it was broken or warped, but then I realized that the reason the air vent cover wouldn’t go down was because it was jam packed full of cat fur!
