One thing I always do when I am looking to buy any kind of heating plus air conditioner products is to go into the town to do so. The reason I go into the town to buy anything heating plus air conditioner related is because it is much cheaper than in our suburban area assume it or not. The town has a lot of sales on brand new, up-to-date plus usually undoubtedly expensive central heating plus air conditioner plan units. They also will have the most good sales on portable a/cs and portable space oil heating systems plus just about anything else you can suppose of, even smart temperature controls are cheaper in the town with the sales they always have. It is worth the 1 hour drive just to take fortune of these savings when I am looking to buy anything related to heating plus air conditioner. Even the high priced HEPA air filters that I buy for our central heating plus air conditioner plan are not so high priced when going into the town plus finding them on sale by buying in bulk. Which is what I do every single time I need to refill the HEPA air filters that I use in our central heating plus air conditioner plan unit. But soon I will absolutely be looking to buy a brand current plus up-to-date central heating plus a/c. And by going into the town I will save absolutely at least a thoUnited Statesnd bucks compared to what I would spend money if I bought a current central heating plus air conditioner plan in our local area.

This is the first time I have ever owned my own home.

I have been a renter for the last 15 years or so, and that isn’t counting the years I spent living with my parents.

There was an initial feeling of power and hope when I first closed on this house. It was a nice place, and it was all mine! That initial feeling was quickly replaced by the overwhelming horror of how little I knew about being a homeowner. In the past I would just call a landlord whenever there was an issue with the power, the water heater, or the air conditioner… but now I was the landlord! I found a website that had a how-to tutorial about basic water heater repair, so that’s where I started. There was no way I could ever learn something as complicated as HVAC repair, because I am not that smart. A water heater was a much simpler piece of equipment, so that was something I felt I was capable of learning. Luckily this house came with a newer model tankless water heater, which I have learned is the best you can find. A tankless water heater is smaller, more efficient, and lasts for years longer than a traditional water heater. If I take good care of it, this water heater could serve me for another 25 to 30 years. That means it is worth learning inside and out. If I can service my own water heater I will never need to pay an HVAC tech to come do it for me.

Not just any site, either, we were on the roof of the new shopping mall, installing the ductwork.

It was a hot day out, and at this point we had been working our butts off for over 10 straight hours with no breaks. It was the biggest single job we had ever untaken, and everyone was focused on doing it right. If we nailed this job, it would lead to other big-money contracts down the line. With all the pressure and stress, I lost focus and had a little accident when a piece of ductwork broke away and fell on my leg. This wasn’t just any piece of ductwork, it was eight feet wide and twenty feet long, being hoisted by a crane. When it landed, it was several hundred pounds worth of sheet metal ductwork crunching the bones in my leg from the knee down. I was lucky the docs were able to save the leg at all! As it stands, I will be in a wheelchair for several weeks, so I can no longer serve as an on-site HVAC tech. Instead my bosses moved me into the front office of the HVAC company, where I now work with the administrative assistants. I am surprised at how much there is to know about the HVAC industry that I had never experienced. I’m not saying I enjoyed it, but it was a learning experience, and if I ever become an HVAC contractor running my own shop, this experience will be invaluable.

One morning I woke up to find that there was no hot water.

There was an ample amount of cold water, but this was in the middle of winter, so the water from the tap was actually too cold.

I sensed that the pipes were on the verge of freezing, so I turned all the taps on just a little bit, to let a tiny amount of water flow. This is the only way I know to keep pipes from freezing solid, and if that happens then they usually rupture and need to be replaced. I am not an expert when it comes to water heaters, but I know enough to check the fuel supply and the pilot light. Neither of those were the culprit, so I called a local HVAC company that offered 24/7 emergency water heater services. If this was just about my own comfort or being able to take a hot shower I would have waited, but I knew a faulty water heater could lead to a host of other problems. The HVAC tech arrived looking just as tired as I felt. On the plus side, he was able to suss out the issue with the water heater within a few minutes, but on the negative side, it wasn’t something he could fix. My water heater is connected to the natural gas pipes operated by the utility company. It turns out the company had an issue with the natural gas lines, so the problem wasn’t with my water heater, it was a lack of natural gas!
