HVAC Repair Tips for Homeowners

I ran my central heating device for 30 minutes (ie $50) to take some chill out of the air in my flat.

But it doesn’t seem like the heat lasted for very long after it turned off.

Now it is cold again but I can’t run the heating because it is just way too expensive. Even if I have a roommate to help with the HVAC system expenses, it still costs too much to run on a regular basis. I figured it out to be about $3 an hour to run the unit, which is insane if you imagine running it all day and night to stay warm. If I ran the unit 10 hours a day, which is not out of the question on cold winter days like today, it would cost an extra $900 on top of my normal power bill of $100. So that means it would cost $1000 a month if you were to run the central HVAC’s heating unit all day and night to keep warm. If I literally ran the system 24 hours a day it would cost about $2500 a month extra, wow this is crazy stuff. So my solution is going to be more clothes in the flat and using the heating unit just an hour a day max. I guess the power companies have their reasons for raising the rates, but I hope that they find a way to lower them again so I can feel some warmth in this flat every now and then. The same will happen with the A/C in the summer, jeez.

Heating technology

Tonight we take the hour train ride into the bigger city to do a set at a music open mic.

This is basically my first music open mic as I was doing comedy for many years but have since switched to music.

I’ve been drumming for a few years on and off, but now I’m taking it a bit more seriously and trying to make it a career. We will practice at this open mic and try out some of our old songs and maybe a few new ones too. I think the local business which has the open mic is the same one I used to do comedy shows in, so at least the air conditioned venue is going to be the same. Maybe I’ll see some familiar faces there from days of old, but I won’t know till we arrive as it has been years since going to that city. I was working at a heating corp there years ago but then I moved to this smaller town where I live now to get away from all of the city noise and pollution. I work here for a local contractor doing some heating and cooling equipment repairs and service calls for their customers. I like the work as it allows me to use my hands and work around other people, and it also makes me feel good when I fix an HVAC system problem for a customer. I think I will keep working there while the music career grows and just keep doing what I am doing for a while.

Shame on the world’s situation for not allowing people to use their heating and A/C in their homes to stay comfortable because of problems that we as a society have created.

• This is why the price of power is so much now and we only have ourselves to blame.

But we got into this mess and we can also get ourselves out of it by righting the wrongs. I don’t think it is too late to fix what we damaged but we need to do something so people can live a normal life and not worry about making ends meet. The HVAC company I work for is the only saving grace here as they pay me well and give me lots of hours. I can run my heating and air conditioning when I want but a lot of my friends can’t run theirs because they don’t earn enough money at their full time jobs to do so. I am going to try and help some of my friends who don’t have a home by letting them stay here some nights to keep warm. It is really cold out now and my one friend, who is a local contractor but lost his license, really needs a place to sleep when the temp goes below zero with no heating at all. He did have a space heater but ran out of money for the gas and now has been sleeping in the sub zero temps in his small tent. I’m sure the tent is not much warmer inside than it is outside as there is basically no insulation.

I’ve been on an artistic hiatus in this small beach town for three years now and I feel like I am ready to come out from under my rock.

I was doing comedy but quit before moving here to start a new life, but since then my lady and I split up and I feel like I need more than this town has to offer me.

I could just take the train to another city to practice, but I may have to move there if that’s what it takes to get me going again. This town has a few local businesses, a few local contractors, and one HVAC business. Other than that, there isn’t too much more to this place other than a few beach stores and restaurants. I want to feel that fire of performing again and some passion in my life, so maybe moving to the big town again would do so, and I could even get an HVAC tech job there with my new contractor buddy. I may have to rent a room from someone, but if it is the right person it shouldn’t be a problem and it would also save me a lot of money as I’m living alone in a big place here. I have central heat and air con, a nice big kitchen, and a lot of quiet time to think about what I am not doing with my life! If you have this fire inside of you, you have to go for it, or that fire will end up burning you alive with the flames of regret.
