HVAC Repair Tips for Homeowners

We’ve been using our ductless multi-split system for a couple of years now.

It’s very important to keep up with regular maintenance, so we enrolled into an HVAC service plan after having the ductless multi-split installed.

We have 6 zones in our home and while it is amazing having customized temperature control comfort, it is a little bit of a hassle to clean all the washable filters. Each indoor unit has a pair of washable filters and they must be cleaned regularly every month. So when it’s time to wash those filters, I usually wash the filters in the zones that I’m not using, so I don’t become uncomfortable. I can easily turn off the HVAC units to remove the washable filters and then take care of things. Then when getting to the remainder of the filters, I will have to be uncomfortable for a little while, like I can’t hang out in the living room while washing those air filters. Not to mention, they take a little while to dry out before you can place them back into your indoor HVAC units. While it is somewhat of a hassle, I do have to admit that I do appreciate having washable filters in my HVAC system. This is because I don’t have to go and purchase brand new air filters all of the time, so it saves us a lot of money in our home. That’s not the only thing that saves us big money though, ever since having this HVAC, we have had much lower energy bills all around.

I never really thought too much about using expensive air filters in the past. I used air filters that were decent, I never went for the cheapest ones either. I just used air filters that I thought had a reasonable MERV rating and that would keep the air quality alright in my home. One day though, my brother was raving about these new HEPA filters that he found. He said he ordered them online from an HVAC supplier and the air filters were way cheaper compared to buying from a local hardware store. I found it hard to believe that I could get HEPA filters for a cheap price, but he was right. I noticed that I could save money by buying in bulk too, so I ordered a 12 pack of HEPA filters and they were delivered within 3 days. I couldn’t believe how fast the delivery was and it was about time for me to change my air filter anyway, so I just threw a HEPA filter in my HVAC and the air quality improved a great deal in my home. The most shocking thing is that I paid roughly the same price per air filter as I was paying for my normal air filters that I was buying from the hardware store. On top of that, the shipping was free, so there was nothing to be worried about. I’m really thankful that my brother decided to think about me when he found such a great deal for HEPA filters. I will be using these air filters moving forward, even if they become more expensive.

I have been stressed out a lot this past year.

The main reason for the stress was the lousy air quality in my home and the fact that I kept having to change the air filters way too often.

I always purchased the 3 month air filters and in the past they seemed to work fine enough, especially when it came to having decent air quality in my home. Well, eventually I decided to call the HVAC company to see if they could help me out with this problem. It was costing me a small fortune having to change the air filters every single month for the most part, and these were expensive air filters too. When the HVAC professional checked everything out, he was able to enlighten me on the issue. He explained that there was a very large amount of dust and debris clogging up my ductwork system. He said with all that debris inside of there, it was no wonder my air filters were clogging up so quickly. He said if I didn’t have the ductwork cleaning taken care of soon, I might have even bigger problems on my hand, like an HVAC system that breaks down. So I had the ductwork cleaned and it seemed like a miracle. Suddenly, the air quality was back to being fresh again and my air filters weren’t getting all clogged up. I also saw the before and after pictures and I was alarmed with how dirty the ductwork really was. This HVAC professional certainly wasn’t joking or playing games for sure.

I wasn’t so sure on the idea of getting a modern control unit, however our roommate was determined to get one.

I am exactly the kind of person that does not love change, then once I find something that works for me, I am unquestionably not going to let it go for a long time.

My roommate however, is the polar opposite. She loves to try anything plus everything, plus because of this, every one of us have had some concerns. So when the control component was having concerns, our roommate was immediately wanting to go out plus get a modern one, preferably a smart control unit. I already didn’t love the idea of a nest control component in our shared home, although I unquestionably didn’t love the idea of already going out plus getting a modern control unit, then just because the dial control component has had a few concerns as of recently, does not mean every one of us need to rush out plus get a modern one. I am not a fan of going out plus spending money unless every one of us have a great reason to. However, even as I was thinking it, I could see our roommate already on a local heating plus A/C supplier website looking at all of their available options. I wanted to call a heating plus A/C supplier plus ask them their opinion, although I couldn’t help however to be afraid that they would side with our roommate. I don’t know, although I absolutely don’t love the idea of getting a modern control component anytime soon, but especially when our modern control component is still functioning.
