I think that college is overrated

I personally think that college is a little bit overrated and that more people should go to trade schools to learn a career. I know that this is probably not the most popular idea these days, but it is what it is. I hate the way that so many young adults seem to think that they have to go to college and spend a fortune on their college classes. I just don’t think that is the case, though. I think that a lot of people probably would do better by just going to a trade school or going straight into the workforce. That’s my opinion, of course, but I’m hoping that my kids decide that they want to go to a career center or technical school around here and become a tradesperson instead of going to an expensive university. I have always joked that instead of having a dentist, a doctor, and a lawyer in the family, I would rather have an electrician, a plumber, and an HVAC technician in the family. I think that having an HVAC technician in the family would be amazing. It would be so nice to have someone that you could call whenever you have trouble with your heating and cooling system! I can’t imagine all of the money that I could save on my heating and cooling repairs and tune ups if I just had a child who knew how to do all of that stuff for me for free. That would be amazing. Anyway, I am definitely going to try and get my kids to go to trade school instead of college and hopefully, I’ll get an HVAC technician out of it.

I am lucky that I knew the HVAC technician

I had a broken air conditioning system last week and it turned out that the guy who came to fix it for me was someone that I used to teach years ago.

I couldn’t believe it when I saw him pull in the driveway and get out of the HVAC van in my driveway, though.

I was so excited to see him that I was jumping up and down by the time he got to the door with his HVAC tools. I had not seen this guy in years, but he was always one of my favorite students. I remember talking to him about his career prospects back when he was in my 12th grade class, and he told me that he did not really want to go to college. That’s when I told him that not everyone has to go to college and that doesn’t mean that they aren’t going to be successful. He really took what I said to heart, that’s for sure. He graduated and went straight to the technical school that’s close to us. He took the classes to earn his heating and cooling certification and he did so well that he ended up having a job waiting for him when he graduated. He’s been working at the same HVAC company for almost five years now and he just happened to be the one who showed up at my house. I was so excited to see him in his element and doing well. I love to see my former students doing something that they love and he told me that he really enjoys being an HVAC technician.

The janitor messed up everything last week

The janitor at the church really messed everything up last week.

He was supposed to be at the church early to set the air conditioning system up the right way but he didn’t show up.

I don’t know if he just got his days mixed up, or if he just did not care enough about the choir rehearsal to come in and do what he was supposed to do. He hasn’t really been doing that great of a job lately, to tell you the truth. I’m starting to think that we might need to hire a new janitor for the church. When I got there for choir rehearsal at 5 o’clock, the temperature inside the church was 80 degrees! Anyone who has ever tried to sing knows that it’s harder when you are hot and sweaty. It just does something to your voice, in my opinion. Anyway, I went right over to the thermostat. When I turned it down, the central air conditioning came on right away. That’s how I know it wasn’t an issue with the air conditioning system itself. If it worked for me, then it should have worked for the janitor. I found out later that he had not even shown up at all. That was really annoying to me because as the choir director, I really try not to waste anyone’s time. I know that people are volunteering to sing in the choir, so I want to make every minute count. We actually had to wait around outside in our cars until the temperature came down inside of the choir room. It took a while to get down to 72 degrees.

My parents never wanted to run the A/C

When I was a kid, my parents would never run the A/C system in the summer. I don’t really know what they had against central air conditioning, but no matter how much my brothers and I begged them to, they just would not turn it on. My dad used to say that it was a complete waste of money to run the central air conditioning system in the summer, and my mom always just agreed with him.Since my mom was pretty cold natured, I think that it didn’t really bother her at all to not use the air conditioning but my siblings and I thought that it was terrible. Half the summer, we would try to sleep over at friends’ houses just so that we would not have to be in our own house in the heat. Now that I am older, I can kind of understand a little bit better why my parents did not want to run the cooling system in the summer. Central air conditioning is very expensive, especially around here where the temperature outside is really hot during July and August. I know that my cooling bills really get up there, and if my parents were having money issues back then, I can see how it would have been hard to make ends meet if they were running the air conditioner all summer long. It’s funny how you can see things differently once you become an adult. I’m glad I don’t have this problem, though. My kids don’t know how lucky they are to be able to use the air conditioner all summer long.
