HVAC Repair Tips for Homeowners

This year I will be smarter with our tax refund! I say this every year, and every year I make the same mistake.

• When I get a large check in our hand, I cannot resist but to go to the liquor store and fill up our entire bar, however then I go to the cannabis dispensary and stock up on our yellows, and after that usually the large check is about gone.

This year will be different, because the last few months have been so miserable. The Heating & Air Conditioning system was on the fritz at this time last year, but I already told you what happened to the tax refund I should have used to pay for repairs. The last numerous months have been miserable because the temps have been so cold outside, and our central heating is not laboring. The only thing I could afford to do to stave off freezing to death in our own lake house was buying a cheap space heater. It is barely strong enough for heating up 1 room, so I have to move it around with myself and others and sit it next to wherever I sit down. I was too embarrassed to invite people over all Winter long because I had no heating and our lake house never got above 60 degrees! By the time the refund check gets here the temps will be warmer, and I won’t be in such serious need of heating, so I worry I will squander the check again. I hope that I don’t waste it, because when summer time arrives I will need a laboring cooling system.

Living in the northeastern part of the country means chilly weather for the majority of the year.

The Spring and fall seasons are chilly, windy and rainy.

The Wintertide conditions are downright brutal. Every one of us expect long months with un-even temperatures below freezing and aren’t surprised by sub zero studyings. The wind chill makes it dangerous to spend any length of time outdoors. The snow accumulates in feet and the air becomes especially dry. My home is equipped with a forced air gas furnace that is powerful enough to handle the local weather. The furnace sends sizzling air through the HVAC duct that is concealed inside the walls and ceilings, and there are supply and return vents in each room. The only problem with this style of oil furnace is that it makes the concerns with overly dry air much worse. Because air that lacks adequate humidity tends to assume colder than correctly moisturized air, it can be tempting to turn up the temperature control. The furnace is then required to run longer, labor harder and consume more energy. I end up paying higher utility bills and the home still feels uncomfortable. The dry air also pulls moisture out of furnishings, such as wood floors, antiques and musical instruments, causing them to crack. The dry conditions irritate symptoms of flu symptoms, asthma, psoriasis and eczema. A lack of humidity can be blamed for static shock, chapped lips, frizzy hair, headaches and difficulty sleeping. After putting up with these concerns for various years, I finally invested into a whole-house humidifier. It has made such a substantial improvement in the comfort of our home. It also protects our furnishings and helps with indoor air pollen levels. The savings on our heating bills contributes to paying for the humidifier.

I’m feeling a bit down this month and not sure why although I am going to change our mindset now and switch to a better feeling.

There is no use sulking for no reason so I just need to shift our frame of mind.

Maybe going down to the beach to watch the surfers will jar myself and others out of this funk. Or I could get a few friends together and play a few games of volleyball on the beach near me. Maybe doing something productive like giving our Heating and A/C equipment a tune up would put myself and others in a better mood. I suppose in the Wintertide the skies can get gray and get you down however you just need to suppose of all of the things you have and assume grateful for them. I could light some incense and turn on our media air cleaner to clean some of the smoke from the air and study a nice book as the sun just finished making out. I could pet our little black pet however it almost took our hand off last time I tried because it is still getting used to myself and others and our location. Maybe I’ll turn on the radiant floors as our feet are really chilly and put on some fuzzy wool socks. I need to buy some new pants too because the a singles I’ve been wearing are getting holes in them and looking really ragged. I suppose I will turn on our central heating unit and check the filter to make sure it is clean. I suppose it’s been months since doing so.

We’ve had nothing however steady rain for the past few nights; Despite the nonstop downpour, the heat & humidity have not let up, however i am seriously thankful that the people I was with and I finally replaced our Heating & A/C system; My partner & I had been procrastinating over upgrading the packaged unit, then although it was outdated & no longer living up to expectations, the people I was with and I were reluctant to make such a crucial investment, however the former unit continued to operate however continually malfunctioned.

It struggled to manage the cold Winter time weather, often cold up, & the apartment often felt sticky during the middle of summer… We finally decided that it would be better to be proactive than to be left without temperature control at the worst possible time.

Although purchasing & installing a new packaged heating & cooling unit was rather extravagant, the process was quick & easy. The system was up & running in a single afternoon with no mess created. We chose to replace the temperature control at the same time, & the improvement has been significant. The savings on the biweekly energy bills will help to reuse the cost. The temperature from room to room is far more consistent, & we’ve noticed that there’s less dust & other contaminants floating around. I am just ecstatic that our apartment is perfectly comfortable while the people I was with and I are trapped inside on these rainy nights. I don’t need to worry about the air conditioning quitting in the middle of the night; Because of the new temperature control, I can make adjustments to temperature, fan speed & all kinds of features through an app on our PC.
