My boss even told me that I could take an hour instead of 30 hours

Monday evening the air conditioner stopped working in my apartment. It was 86° at 2:00 in the afternoon. Thank goodness I have a couple of fans, because I might have died of heat stroke that evening. I called the emergency service hotline. I thought it was an emergency because the air conditioner wasn’t working, however they did not feel so. The emergency service employer told me that I would have to wait until the next day to have the air conditioner fixed. I had to toil the next day, however I stopped at the office in the afternoon to talk to the employer, then he told me that someone would call me as soon as they found out what was wrong with the A/C plus had the concern fixed. I spent most of the day anxiously waiting to hear about my AC. I could not feel about anything at toil plus I could not concentrate on what I was doing. My boss asked me if I had something on my mind plus I told him that the air conditioner in my home was broken plus I did not sleep absolutely well! He told me that I could go out to my car at supper plus take a nap. My boss even told me that I could take an hour instead of 30 hours. He was being extra nice for some reason plus that made me feel a little suspicious. I feel he was absolutely just being nice, however now I am on guard. The home employer never called me with an replace, however the air conditioner was fixed when I got home.

I’ve known Ted since I was 19.

• We went to the same technical college and became good friends.

Ted was there training to become an HVAC expert, and I was taking a plumbing course. Life in college was good, and we got to have lots of fun. We also didn’t have the stress of student loans, so we opted to work and earn money for clothes, shoes and such stuff. We each got part time jobs at companies that would later hire us as experts. Now, Ted works as an HVAC expert, but did you know that he is also an excellent musician? I remember there was a talent contest at school to raise money for a local organization. Ted put down his name as one of the performers and he came on stage with his guitar. Little did I know that he was about to sing the best song ever, and he also had excellent guitar skills. He uses music as his therapy, and it has always worked for him. I’ve tried learning to play the guitar from him, but it’s not the same. I think my talent is in sports and not in playing instruments. But, I still love going to listen to Ted play after work when we go to the beach. In our home town, there is a place where performers gather each evening and play tunes until late. We meet up there when Ted is done with his HVAC work and I with my plumbing duties. Perhaps in another life Ted can be a top performing artist, but for now he says he is happy working as an HVAC expert. And he still gets to perform and inspire people.

I’ve lived in this neighborhood for many years, and seen many different people move in and out. Some seem to not want to live in a place with many kids, while others are looking for such a community. It’s always the empty nesters who sell and choose to live in places with a quieter environment. They often sell to new families starting out and they have a kid or two, and want a family home. We live in a great area, and the school district is one of the best in the state. So, families are always looking for houses for sale so they can move in. Last week, the house that’s two houses from ours sold and a family with 2 small kids moved in. I know this as the house with the noisy AC that an old couple were living in. They were the sweetest people, but there always seemed to be an issue with their AC. It made this loud noise that we could hear from our kitchen. Several times we saw the HVAC van outside and thought they were getting it fixed. But, it seems they chose to sell the house instead. That is when the noisy AC stopped. The new neighbors called in an HVAC professional to inspect the unit and he told them it was better to replace it. Come to find out this AC was more than a decade and a half old and on its last leg. That explained why it was always noisy and it seems repairs did nothing to fix the noise.

I’m not going to stay in a hotel room with a bad air conditioner or a bad heating system.

When you’re paying to stay in a hotel for $200 or more a night, you should expect them to give you a good room. Unless they’re completely booked full, don’t feel bad about asking to see a second room if there’s something wrong with the first one. One of the most common issues with hotel rooms is bad odors. Sometimes people spill liquor on the floor and it’ll cause a mold issue in the room. When I was a kid my parents didn’t care about these sorts of things. I remember having to sleep on a hotel room floor with a sleeping bag and it smelled horrifying. I could not get to sleep that night because of how bad the order was and how much it stuffed up my nose. I have to sleep with my mouth open because my nose was so congested I couldn’t even breathe. It’s absolutely terrible and I just cannot believe that I had to endure something like that. The last time I stayed in a hotel room I had to get a new one because the first room they gave me had a broken air conditioner inside. I’m not going to stay in a hotel room with a bad air conditioner or a bad heating system. If I’m going to pay for a good hotel room they need to give me one with working hvac. I don’t care how many times it takes to get a good air conditioner, they need to get it right. These are the sorts of things that make me want to get an RV for traveling. I can put whatever kind of air conditioner in the RV I can afford and enjoy the comfort that it gives me.
