Two years ago, we were told they were putting sewer lines on our street.

Two months later, we received notices we had six weeks to have the area dug up where the sewer lines were going to be placed. I must have read the notice four times before I concluded they were telling we had to pay for the excavation of the area where the mandatory sewer lines were going in. It cost us $750 to connect to the sewer lines, and we then had to pay almost $100 a month to the sewer authority. By the time we were done getting the sewer lines in place and connecting to the sewer pumping station, we had spent nearly $4000 and hadn’t received our first monthly bill. My husband went to the township meeting and wanted to know how they could mandate the sewer system, and make us pay for something we hadn’t voted on. They said they had that authority, but I wasn’t as happy as my husband, and he was furious. Many of our friends and neighbors were also at the meeting, and some of them had paid nearly $10,000 to hook into the mandated sewer line because of the amount of street front property they had. Even with our protesting, it made no difference. When they doubled the cost of our sewer bill a year later, I was one of the first to put a ‘for sale’ sign in my front yard, but I wasn’t the last.

Additionally affordable Home Solutions cut down on things like evictions and houses essentially going to ruin. Also, whether or not someone has decent housing affects their health, which means Affordable Home Solutions help a population stay healthy. A healthier populace equals a healthier economy.

My friend Christian always wanted to do something related to Eastern Philosophy and meditation. Those were his interests going into college, but he quickly became disillusioned with what he was studying and the people around him because none of it gave him instant satisfaction. Christian ended up dropping out after just one single semester at the state school he was attending. Unfortunately, life got extremely difficult for him in the succeeding years. He had to immediately take work at a landscaping company in the middle of the summer season. The temperatures were in the 90s most days and he was sweating more than he ever had in his entire life. But these years of hard work built his character into the person he is today. And despite having to work like crazy for a few years, he never gave up his dream of someday incorporating his love for Eastern Philosophy into an actual career. I’ll admit that I was a tiny bit skeptical when he told myself and the rest of our friends about his intentions to go to yoga school. He wanted to become a certified yoga trainer and eventually open a yoga studio of his own. Some of us wondered if he would manage to find work as a yoga trainer, but he made a smart move during the pandemic. He advertised virtual yoga training and nutritional counseling to all of the people stuck working at home during 2020 and 2021. While he still offers virtual yoga classes once a week, most of his clients come to his brand new yoga studio that he opened last month. So far his business is thriving and he’s never been happier.

There are tons of videos on the internet that I love watching.

It’s kind of embarrassing but my guilty pleasure is watching the pimple popping videos.

I can’t explain why because as gross as they are, I find some kind of satisfaction in watching them. I also enjoy watching videos of people eating, for some odd reason, I find it satisfying as well. Perhaps it’s because I don’t eat a lot of the food that are usually featured on these videos and watching others eat that food brings me some level of joy. I have no other explanation or reasoning why I indulge in these videos. Another type of videos that I enjoy are bee rescue videos. I find it fascinating how comfortable beekeepers are around the bees. The beekeeper in these videos does not wear any protective gear. And when she is rescuing the bees, she sometimes uses her bare hands to scoop them up to place them inside their new hive. Personally, when I see one bee flying around in my personal space, I usually freak out about it, so I can’t imagine being in the midst of hundreds or perhaps thousands of bees with no protective gear. Beekeepers are brave and the person from those videos have earned my respect. I wouldn’t be as calm if I had to handle that many bees on a daily basis. Becoming a beekeeper requires the person to have a very calm demeanor because I assume anything else would cause the bee removal process to be chaotic. I know that I can’t become a beekeeper so I will just continue to watch the incredible videos of them in action.
