I really want to stop messing around online so much. I feel like all of my time is spent staring at a computer, and I’m getting pretty fed up with screens at this point. You see, when I finish my work for my online employer, then I have to go to work for myself. I spend endless hours manipulating my website, posting new items for sale, and managing my social media accounts. It’s a whole other job, on top of actually creating these wares. That’s why I really want to take the leap and get a brick and mortar retail space for my art. Not only is it important to me where the shop is located, but I’m also pretty obsessed with the HVAC plan it has installed. The last thing I would want is to purchase a building with an old failing furnace or a faulty air conditioning system. I can’t have my art enduring wild temperature fluctuations. I also will need to work from the store to create my art, so it will be crucially important to have a strong air conditioning system to keep my internal temperature nice and low. I don’t want my customers to be uncomfortable either, though, so perhaps I’ll want to get zone controlled heating and cooling. Then again, if I’m going to invest that much money, I might as well have radiant heated flooring installed. And certainly at that point I will just get the newest smart thermostat to finish off my air control set up. As you can see, I need a lot of start up money before I can buy my first shop front.
Frequent power outages
I’m fairly content with the city where I currently live.
It’s much warmer than where I used to reside, which is a huge bonus. I also love that there’s so much outdoor recreation integrated with the city. Finally, perhaps my favorite part is that there are so many trees present all around the city. I’m not talking about your normal inner city trees, which are tiny little posts standing with the support of wires. I mean that the whole city is set within a forest, and it’s beautiful to observe. The only trouble with these tall timbers is their ability to knock out the power on a regular basis. All it takes is a limb to snap, and half the city falls into darkness. I didn’t realize what a huge problem this was until we got a smart thermostat last year. See, whenever the power goes out, our thermostat goes offline and resets the standard settings. That means our house can sit without any air temperature control for up to 9 hours when we’re both out of the house all day long. When we return home, the indoor air condition is ridiculously hot and humid. It takes our AC over 3 hours to bring the temperature back down to a comfortable degree. Not only is this a huge waste of energy for our central cooling system, but it’s quite dangerous for our pets. They are stuck at home and have to endure the increasing heat and humidity throughout the day. It’s surprising to say, but I never thought that having so many trees around would decrease our quality of living.
Flowers ruined outside
Every so often one of my friends really goes above and beyond to prove why they are my favorite people on earth.
- They always have my back, but there are occasions when someone really goes the extra mile to show their love.
This was the case two weeks ago when I was having a particularly hard time with my boyfriend. I had been calling my friends repeatedly with my complaints and frustrations, and I assumed they were getting pretty tired of hearing from me. I went off to work early one day just to get out of the house, and was surprised to get several messages from my pals as the day progressed. When I got home, I found out why. I got there to see a large box sitting on the stoop, roasting in the sun. The package felt burning hot when I picked it up, and I almost dropped the box in shock when I touched the 100 degree rectangle. When I got inside, I opened it to reveal a dozen completely limp and toasted flowers. Apparently my dear friends had sent me a bouquet to lift my spirits, but the flowers were delivered after I left for work. Because no one was home to move them inside, to the cool indoor air conditioned environment we keep all summer long, the flowers had simply sat in the desert heat all day. I hoped that getting some AC late was better than nothing, but even in our modern AC the flowers never perked up again. Still, I appreciated my friends’ beautiful gesture and failed to mention the heating disaster.

I am one of those people who tends to freak out about privacy as well as personal space, generally speaking.
I do not like people in my room, looking at my things, or moving any of my items around.
I have an issue with controlling my environment as well as keeping everything exactly where I left it. That being said, I’m trying absolutely strenuous to let go of some of these anxieties, especially considering how several house guests my buddy and I have these days. I hardly have any privacy whatsoever, with all the humans rotating through our home. I’ve managed to let go quite a bit, however every so often I’m reminded of my underlying troubles. For instance, last weekend when our in laws stayed over as well as managed to chop our heating system within 2 days. My friend and I were out of town, however allowed them to use our house for the weekend. On their way out the door, they thought it would be kind to shut off the heating as well as cooling system to reduce our energy usage while the house was vacant. Little did they know, they would do a lot of Heating as well as Air Conditioning disfigurement with their good intentions. You see, they are accustomed to living in Florida heat. When they arrived, it was going to be only 60 degrees outside, so I powered up the heating system to a low operating level for extra warmth to keep them comfortable. They clearly didn’t realize that the heat was running, interpreting the slightly freezing outdoor air as indoor AC. As such, as they left the house, the temperature control was bumped up to 85 degrees in order to keep the a/c from cycling unnecessarily. Well, flash forward to our arrival home 5 days later… The house was burning hot, humid, as well as stagnant inside, as well as our heating system was a smoldering, inoperable hunk of metal. Our energy bill was through the roof, as well as my buddy and I have to update our central heating system. So much for saving us cash.
